The Chase County courthouse is the oldest operating court house in Kansas. The exterior and interior have been restored. The interior restoration was the latest major project.

This photo is from the celebration after completion of the interior restoration.

During the celebration of the restoration of the interior of the courthouse, cannons were fired to the north from the lawn of the courthouse. A number of Cottonwood Falls citizens were afraid the noise and vibration would break downtown windows. (None were broken.)
People attending the celebration were able to enjoy food
from the Flying W chuck wagon

Here, the courthouse serves as a setting for a wedding. Any questions about the courthouse should be directed to the County Clerk by calling 620-273-6423. If she doesn't know the answer, she can direct you to the proper person to ask.

If you need the street blocked off like the wedding shown here, you need to contact the city office by calling 620-273-6666 to have it put on the agenda for the next council meeting.
