Planning Commission has seven members
Five are residents of City and Two are from outside the City
within three miles
They are appointed by the mayor and serve three-year terms.
Terms run January 1 thru December 31
Members are typically reappointed to another three-year term when their term expires.

In early 2011, the Planning Commission, in conjunction with a group from Kansas State University, developed a comprehensive plan for the city.

City Planning Commission - Ordinance No 681 - February
17, 1975
Consists of seven electors - five residents and two outside
city witin three miles
Shall meet at least once a month at such time commission may
fix by resolution.
Commission shall select one chairman and one vice chairman
- one year terms and until successor is selected.
A secretary is appointed annually - that person may or may
not be a member of the commission - may be an officer or employee
of city
Majority of commission constitutes a quorum for transaction
of business
Proper record of proceedings must be kept
Has all powers and duties set forth in KSA 12-701-706a inclusive
